Monetizing Your Website

The Internet is full of possibilities for making money online. The sky is the limit and you can be part of the Internet phenomena. Some people think that the only way to make money online is if you have goods to sell and put them in an online store. In this post we will help you realize that there are many ways that you can turn your website into a money making machine. You may not make a lot of money within a week or two but overtime if you do the work and are patient, you will see results.

  1.  Reseller and Affiliate Programs – These are increasingly popular. You choose a product that you feel good about referring your visitors to and when they click on your affiliate links and purchase something you get a commission from the sale.
  2. Sell Ad Space – If you have a website or blog that gets quite a few visitors and you have a good following you can always sell ad space on your own site.
  3. Pay Per Click – This is an advertising form that lets you place many different kinds of ads on your website and when you visitors click through you get paid. Most of these are at best $.10 per click but if you generate a good amount of traffic this adds up extremely quickly.
  4. Donations – Even if you just have a family site where your family members and friends come to view the site or blog to keep up with your family, you can benefit from donations. PayPal offers an easy to integrate banner that is professional and lets your visitors know that they can use PayPal to donate and they can rest assured that their information is private.
  5. Sponsored Reviews – If you have a great blog or a niche site for something like reviews on children’s books you could be someone who writes sponsored reviews. In this situation a company or person would give you a product to test or try out for a period of time and then you would write the review in exchange either for the product itself or for money. Be careful here because new rules have been passed that will make it so that you have to disclose the fact that you are compensated for your review. This will go through in December 2009.
  6. Sponsored Piece Work – If you are writing a certain article and you think that a specific company would pay to sponsor your one article then let them know. You never know what might happen. You could end up doing a lot of this kind of writing.
